Why is it that on xbox live British and Canadians hate Americans even when I say I'm half British?

Idk why but my moms British and a British citizen and I know alot about Britain and England but as soon as a Brit or Canadian finds out I'm from America they hate me. Even tho I say I'm half British my accent becomes a target!
