How do I keep my dog from chewing on everything on our patio while we're at work?

We've tried spraying Yuck spray on anything and everything but it doesn't seem to deter him from chewing on something else. I am worried that he'll chew on something that can make him sick. We've even tried submitting him next to what he's destroyed and told him NO but it doesn't seem to be working. He's only a little over a year old and I don't know if it would be safe to keep him in his crate just while we're at work to keep him out of trouble. HELP PLEASE!!!
